Y-East UN75 Dialogue: Climate Crisis and Mitigation

The ‘UN 75 Dialogue’ was launched by the United Nations in January 2020 to mark its 75th anniversary and as one of the largest ever exercise to gather public opinion and crowd sourcing solutions to global challenges. Key takeaways from the discussions held under UN 75 Dialogue will be conveyed to the UN. Y-East Network finds this as the perfect opportunity to make ourselves heard at a global level as a community of sustainability actors focusing on East and North-East India. We have therefore conducted the ‘Y-East | UN 75 Dialogue’ – an online discussion on major social and environmental challenges plaguing the world. The session for the month of August was on Climate Crisis and Mitigation.

The main objectives of the Dialogue was to identify concrete, regional collective challenges and solutions related to the Climate Crisis, and to follow up with these takeaways through collaborative action within the Y-East network with the hope that the session’s key findings will contribute to the global conversation curated by the UN under their UN75 initiative. The session was conducted virtually on 26th August with Dr. Preeti Soni Chief, Climate Change, Resilience and Energy at UNDP India as the Keynote Speaker followed by a roundtable discussion with Suchismitra Sen Basu, Founder, OESI, Nivedita Jain, Marketer, Fashion and Lifestyle, Kanishk Saraogi, Founder, We are One Global NGO, Rajib Lochan Pathak, Expert Consultant, Community Based Construction, Abhinav Bajpai, Co Founder, Ubuntu Community Café, Sumesh Dugar CEO, Webbies moderated by Pauline Laravoire, Co Founder, Y-East and Sustainability Director, Techno India Group.
