My Body My Rights Workshop

My Body My Rights (MBMR) is a workshop initiated by Rangeen Khidki and Techno India Group of Public Schools (TIGPS). The training took place in a span of 4 days, bi-monthly on 14^th and 28^th August,11^th and 25^th September and was virtually conducted on zoom with 30 teachers from TIGPS, West Bengal.

The objectives were to normalise sex education which is still considered taboo in our country, to provide basic information regarding the topic, to implement behavioural and attitudinal change and also to train them in providing Child/Adolescent Affirmative Sexuality Education. The training included activities and conversations based on the content from MBMR module. Knowledge and skills tests were taken to assess the teachers throughout the training session. Topics that were covered in the interactive session were:

• Body and Growing up (puberty, body image, sense of self, boundaries, consent, communication, safe and unsafe touch).
• Emotions (interpersonal relationships, peer pressure, bullying, anxiety and depression).
• Gender and Sexuality (identity, fluidity, gender norms and roles, sexuality and intersection with gender).
• Pregnancy, Contraception and Abortion (reproductive anatomy, reproductive health and rights, sexual and reproductive health care).

The training had positive outcomes. The participants showed active participation throughout the training and there was a noticeable surge in the pre and post overall evaluation.
