On Oct 21ST 2021, The Youth for Sustainability India Alliance joined hands with Legal Initiative for Forest and Environment (LIFE) and conducted a virtual masterclass on Environmental Law.
The virtual class consisted of inspiring talk sessions by Prominent Environmental Lawyer- Ritwick Dutta followed by The Head of the East Zone Office of LIFE in Kolkata-Kankana Das and concluded by fellow Prominent Environmental Lawyer-Rahul Choudhury who along with Ritwick Dutta and Kankana Das are the founders of LIFE – Legal Initiative for Forest and Environment.
The interactive session focused on topics such as the importance and need for Environmental Law, Biological Diversity Act-2002 and Waste Management. It also provided us with professional inputs into the relevant legal tools available for social and environmental impact, anecdotes from India showing results of proper implementation and inaction of these laws and how we as citizens can abide by these laws.
